Prof. Marco De Andrea, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medical Microbiology. He is also deeply involved in the research activities in the newly established CAAD as Head of the Virology & Intrinsic Immunity program. Since many years he has focused his activity on the IFN-inducible gene family designated Ifi200 in the mouse and PYHIN/HIN200 in the humans, and over the last years he has gained a considerable amount of expertise in the field of innate immunity, in particular with regard to the role of the pathogen recognition receptor IFI16 protein during antimicrobial response. His studies on this topic have been internationally recognized as having made important contributions to the field of autoimmunity. including the recent Horizon 2020 European Marie Curie ITN project EDGE He is the author of 80 scientific papers, two book chapters and he is regularly invited for stage presentations at both domestic and international conferences.
