The ExcellMater Seminar on project proposal writing was successfully carried out online from November 22-24, 2021. The lecturers were from the Research Support Services of the Aalto University, Finland. The seminar was focused on the Horizon Europe work programme and was opened by the introduction about the ExcellMater project presented by Prof. Bojana Obradovic, Project Coordinator, followed by the presentation of organization and tasks of Research Support Services. The Seminar next covered the overall structure of the Horizon Europe programme followed by detailed descriptions of project proposal preparation for Research Innovation Actions (RIA), Innovation Actions (IA), Coordination and Support Actions (CSA), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), Funding instruments in the European Innovation Council (EIC) and grants of the European Research Council (ERC). Also, specific features related to all types of projects were included such as intellectual property protection, management and commercialization, research ethics and research data management. In this way, the seminar covered in depth the main types of actions in HEU programme with the stress on project proposal formulation and preparation stages.

The Seminar was attended by 63 participants including 16 early stage researchers. Majority of participants were from FTM and the Innovation Center FTM (48). Also, 11 researchers engaged in the project Precision medicine for musculoskeletal regeneration, prosthetics, and active ageing – PREMUROSA attended the ExcellMater seminar as an activity of project clustering. Attendees rated the Seminar as excellent, important and very useful.
