The ExcellMater project and FTM had a pleasure to welcome Dr Maja Dutour Sikirić from the Institute Ruđer Bošković in Zagreb, Croatia, on May 24, 2022. On that occasion she presented the talk: Precipitation of calcium phosphates in the presence of nanostructured materials: A biomimetic route to multifunctional materials (the abstract can be found here). Within the talk, Dr Dutour Sikirić has also introduced the project Antimicrobial Integrated Methodologies for orthopaedic applications – AIMed (GA 861138) which is relevant for the ExcellMater project, too.

After the presentation, Dr Maja Dutour Sikirić was acquainted with the ExcellMater project and visited the groups for biomedical engineering, bioceramic materials, advanced biocomposite materials and electrochemical biomaterials. A range of research topics was found to be complementary so that potentials for collaboration and joint experimental studies were considered.
